NTN Cam Follower Introduction:

NTN cam followers are stud-type track roller assemblies each comprising a thick-walled outer ring encompassing integral rollers. The cam follower isdesigned to operate with its outer ring rolling on the track

Because it is run in direct contact with the track, theouter ring is designed with a thick wall capable ofwithstanding an impact load.

The outside surface of the outer ring is either sphericalor cylindrical in shape. A spherical outer ring caneffectively withstand edge loads that result from mountingerror.

Because the cylindrical outer ring is in contact with alarger contact area of the associated track surface, thecontact surface pressure is lower. Thus, this type of outerring can bear a larger load compared with spherical outerrings and can be used even if the hardness of theassociated track surface is low.

NTNcam followers can be categorized into a caged type and full-complement roller type. With the caged type,the rollers are guided by the cage, making this typesuitable for high-speed applications.

The full-complement roller type, by contrast, has anincreased load rating, making it suitable for high-loadapplications (low-speed operation). The double-row cylindrical roller type (NUKR type), however, can bear an even higher load
